This local heritage project has produced four magazines that celebrate Queen’s Park and its people (click on Magazine to view or download).

Winner of a Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities Award, the project continued in 2008 when volunteers decided to carry on  when funding ran out. They organise bi-monthly talks on some aspect of local history or culture on a  self-sustaining basis.

Topics in 2008 included the Eagles and the Eyrie Ground, Clubs and Pubs, Maps, Claims to Fame and Down Memory Road (Ford End).

Queen’s Park Lives also commissioned the script and songs for Jigsaw: The Queen’s Park Musical which was performed by Fusion in June 2008. The story was based on the oral history archive created by Queen’s Park Lives since 2005.

Another ambitious project was the Faith DVD. Working with video turned out to be quite a challenge, but a multi-faith team of adult learners stuck with it and eventually completed all the technical tasks themselves (aided by a local professional).
Launched at a vibrant community event, the Faith in Queen’s Park DVD explores Islam, Sikhism and Christianity from the perspective of people rather than books. Viewers also discover how our faith prompts us to work together for a better world. The DVD has received rave reviews as a teaching resource and can be ordered from Faith in Queen’s Park for £5.
