Queen's Park Youth Cricket was founded in 2005 by leaders from the mosque, church and gurdwara. Given the cricketing talent in Queen's Park, it was almost criminal that there were no opportunities for children to play, apart from on the street and very occasionally in school.

Now we field six teams in the county youth league, including the area's only girls' team. In 2009 our under 15s made it to the regional finals of the Portman Cup, making them one of the top eight teams in the country! This was an incredible achievement, especially for a working-class Club whose facilities consisted of a single plastic wicket. Biddenham Upper School is now trying to resurrect a grass wicket and we have two nets -- thanks to coaches who bought the materials on ebay and built the nets themselves!

Whatever their ability or experience, players aged 5 to 17 find a warm welcome at our Club. Our coaches come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we seek to foster friendships across the lines of race and religion. We also use cricket to raise aspirations, develop self-discipline and improve attitudes.

Mostly, we have fun!

See you next season!
